Humans of RSDM: Eddie Delgado, Lab Technician

Eddie Delgado in the lab

Fourth-year student Nam Hoang wrote this lovely profile of lab technician Eddie Delgado for RSDM's student newspaper The Dental Post. The story, which ran in the fall, is part of the Post's ongoing feature "Humans of RSDM,'' which spotlights members of the school community.

Delgado, a native of the South Bronx, began his career as a freshman in high school and has been a mentor to students since starting at RSDM four years ago. Here's how Hoang describes him:

Eddie Delgado... has a paint brush he’s been using since 1982. The white paint on the handle has worn away after so many years of use, and the bristles have been trimmed down over the years to less than half their original length. Nearby, Eddie’s number one instrument – the roach carver – sits ready after 10 years of service, a little smaller after years of use and sharpening, but trustworthy as ever. Classic rock plays in the background of his “office,” where scores of students come every week for Eddie’s expertise in creating smiles in porcelain and acrylic.
