Emily Sabato Appointed Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs

Emily Sabato

Emily Sabato, Director of Institutional Assessment and Quality Improvement, has been appointed Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs.

She  replaces Dr. Jeanette DeCastro, who retired in November. She will continue her director role until that position is filled.

Sabato’s educational background includes a BS degree in Biological Systems Engineering from Texas A&M University, a Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration from the University of Pennsylvania, and a EdD in Education, specializing in Higher Education from the University of Pennsylvania.

"In addition to her background and experience with education, technology and process improvement, she has proven to have a pivotal role in the development of the school’s new Strategic Plan,  as well as the development of innovative curricular elements to address the new CODA accreditations standards, all of which showcase her organizational and collaborative skills,'' announced Vice Dean Dr. Kim Fenesy, who headed the search committee that selected Sabato.

In her new role, Sabato replaces DeCastro as principal investigator for the From Practice to Preceptor (FP2P)  program, created with a $2.5 million grant from the federal Health Resources and Services Administration in 2012.  The grant, which is in its final years, established a program that equipped dozens of professional dentists for jobs in academia, including several who joined the faculty at RSDM.

"I am thrilled to have Dr. Sabato as the Assistant Dean in the Office for Academic Affairs to head our team, and I hope you will join all me in congratulating Dr. Sabato and wishing her well with her new position and responsibilities,'' announced Dr. Fenesy.
